For the canvas it involves more people to have the outcome be that john and hope had a child together. Here's what i'm thinking (and maybe i'm being too rational): if john were the father, at the time alice discovered this secret, no one knew ej from a hole in the wall. It wouldn't have had any negative affect on hope. I can't imagine Alice wouldn't have thought hope would want, and had the right to know she had a child out there. She wouldn't have hidden it from her. However, if stefanie were the father, that might change Alices actions......
Just watch, the storyline won't have anything to do with a secret child.
